About Cyprus

Cyprus is an island republic in the eastern Mediterranean. Nicosia is the capital. About 1 million people live in the Republic of Cyprus. Greek and Turkish are official languages; company work is routinely conducted in English. The euro is the currency.

Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004 and the euro area in 2008. It is not in Schengen. The island is used as an English-language EU company base for holding, services and Eastern Mediterranean trade. Nicosia is the administrative centre; Limassol is the main commercial port city. The legal system draws on common-law practice, which many international owners already recognise.

Brikseka forms Cypriot companies. The usual vehicle is a private limited company. Incorporation is remote and in English. No local director is required. The registrar is typically faster than a local bank account.

We then advise on a business bank account and payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal. Banking for non-resident owners is slower than the registrar step; an electronic money institution is often the first account. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Cyprus, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.

  • Company formation

We form a private limited company remotely, in English, then stay with the file through banking and payments.

  • European Union and euro

EU member since 2004 and in the euro area since 2008. Cyprus is not in Schengen. A Cypriot company sits inside the single market.

  • Eastern Mediterranean

An English-language EU base on an island between Europe and the Levant, with Nicosia as the capital.

  • Tax setting

Corporate income tax is published at 15 percent from 2026. We confirm the live position before you proceed.

How we work

From briefing to a registered company

  1. Briefing

We review your business, the right entity for this country, costs, and whether a visit is likely.

  2. Company formation

Local counsel, notary where required, and the commercial register. We coordinate the documents through to a registered company.

  3. Banking and payments

After the company exists, we prepare applications for a business account and payment gateways.

  4. After incorporation

Statutory records, a named contact, and introductions to accounting so the company can operate.

After the company exists

Payment gateways

  • Stripe, subject to Stripe’s approval
  • PayPal Business, subject to PayPal’s approval

Operating stack

Business banking

  • Wise Business, opened in the company name, subject to Wise’s approval
  • Cyprus banks are slower for non-resident owners; an electronic money institution is often the first account

Provider lists are indicative. We confirm current availability, government fees, and account-opening requirements during consultation.

Business Tools covers payment gateways, business accounts, email, websites, and related tools after the company exists.
