Country overview
About Kenya
Kenya is a republic on the East African coast of the Indian Ocean. Nairobi is the capital and the commercial centre. About 56 million people live here. It borders Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan. English and Swahili are official languages. The currency is the Kenyan shilling (KES).
Nairobi is East Africa’s principal business city, with a large domestic market and a regional services sector. M-Pesa is everyday payment infrastructure, not a novelty. Kenya is a member of the East African Community. English common law underpins company practice. The country is used as an operating base for East Africa.
Brikseka forms Kenyan companies. The usual vehicle is a private limited company filed through eCitizen. No local director is required. Incorporation can start remotely; identification, banking, or immigration may still require travel. Typical formation takes one to three weeks.
We then advise on a business bank account and local payments, including Paystack and M-Pesa acquiring. Kenyan banks often require presence. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Kenya, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.

How we work
From briefing to a registered company
Briefing
We review your business, the right entity for this country, costs, and whether a visit is likely.
Company formation
Local counsel, notary where required, and the commercial register. We coordinate the documents through to a registered company.
Banking and payments
After the company exists, we prepare applications for a business account and payment gateways.
After incorporation
Statutory records, a named contact, and introductions to accounting so the company can operate.
Also available
Business immigration
Forming a company in Kenya does not grant the right to live there. If you intend to relocate, we also advise on Kenya business immigration — including Class G Investor. Requirements, capital, and processing times are confirmed before any engagement.
