Country overview
About Qatar
Qatar is an emirate on a peninsula in the Persian Gulf. Doha is the capital and the commercial centre. About 2.8 million people live here. The only land border is with Saudi Arabia. Arabic is the official language; English is widely used in business. The currency is the riyal (QAR).
Qatar is a high-income Gulf state with a large energy sector and a growing professional-services economy in Doha. The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) is the more international company path, with its own civil and commercial court. Mainland and free-zone companies are also available. Costs and substance expectations are higher than a simple remote company in a larger market.
Brikseka forms companies in Qatar. The usual vehicles are a QFC company, a free-zone company, or a mainland limited liability company. A visit is required. Incorporation is not completed remotely. No local director is required for a standard filing, but in-person identification, licensing and banking are part of a realistic setup. Timeframes typically run from three to eight weeks.
We then advise on a Qatari business bank account and on local acquiring. Stripe is not available as a merchant account on a Qatari company. QFC companies can sometimes reach a wider set of international processors; approvals remain with the providers. Banks typically expect presence in Qatar. If your aim is to live in Qatar, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.
